Yes, Roman Shlafer DDS welcomes pediatric patients — from infants to teenagers — and provides comprehensive family dental care in a family-friendly environment. We recommend scheduling your child’s first visit when their first tooth erupts, usually around six months to one year of age.
Yes, Roman Shlafer DDS understands that dental anxiety is common and offers IV sedation and oral conscious sedation to help patients feel comfortable and relaxed during their visits.
During your first dental appointment at Roman Shlafer DDS, you can expect a dental exam, teeth cleaning and oral cancer screening — routine appointments generally take 30 to 45 minutes. Please bring a form of identification, your dental insurance card (if applicable), a method of payment and any dental X-rays from the last six months.

Dr. Roman Shlafer is a general dentist with advanced training in restorative and cosmetic dentistry — he earned his DDS from the University of Michigan in 1985 and completed graduate studies at the Center for Advanced Dental Studies under Peter E. Dawson, DDS.

Yes, we do everything possible to offer same-day emergency dental appointments whenever you need us.
We offer IV sedation (administered by a licensed anesthesiologist and taking effect almost immediately) and oral conscious sedation (a small pill taken roughly an hour before your appointment) to help make your visit more comfortable and stress-free.
Yes — sedation dentistry is very safe at our office: Dr. Shlafer monitors your vital signs throughout the procedure, and a licensed anesthesiologist is always on call for IV sedation procedures.
